Stones

Several years ago I had the chance to swim in Lake Michigan at the northern tip of Michigan. Even though it was July, the water was extremely cold, and the normal person could only tolerate it a short time. The brief time I was in the water, I found three of the smoothest, whitest stones I had ever seen. There are about twice the size of a large egg. I brought those stones home with me and still have them.

My thoughts then were of David and his stones. David's stones had to be smooth, so they could travel straight and true. His life depended on it.

I also think about the Word saying that if we don't praise God, the stones will cry out His praise.

Lately when I think of those stones, I think of Revelation. Jesus says in Revelation 2:17 that he who overcomes will get a white stone. This stone will have a new name for us on it. It will be a name that He has chosen for us, and one that only we will know.

I can't wait to get that stone, and see what my new name is.
