Surgery

I had surgery for a detached retinal yesterday. They put a gas bubble in my eye to hold the retina down, and today will do more laser surgery to weld it down and in place. It wasn't really painful when he put the needle in my eye, because of all the local anesthetic and drops. But there was immense pressure, to the point I was lightheaded. This morning, the eye is understandably sore.

The eye is one of God's complex wonders. Charles Darwin even thought he needed to address it specifically in regards to evolution and natural selection. He ultimately concluded that it must have, although not real convincingly. I think if he knew everything about the eye that we know now, like about the tremors and movements that help us to see, it would have made him rethink his whole theory. If our eyes have evolved like they think we have in other ways from the Neanderthals, they must not have been able to see at all. I'm surprised they weren't all dinosaur bait being that blind.
